Our trip to London

On Monday, the 13th of October, we, the ninth grade and our 8 teachers met at 4:45 in the morning to go on our London trip. We all were tired and also excited, when our busses left from the bus stop, taking us on an adventurous journey through Belgium, France and England. In the afternoon, we got on a ferry in Calais to take us over to Dover, where we would drive on for about two hours. When we arrived at our guest families in Coulston in the evening, we all felt a bit exhausted, but happy to finally be here.

The next day, we met at 7:45 am at a car park to go by our busses to Greenwich. From there, we got on a boat, that brought us to Westminster, passing a few important sights. After we arrived in Westminster, we did a walk through London, where we saw the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. There we had free time to spend. The bus picked us up in Westminster near the River Thames and brought us back to the car park, where our guest families took us back to their houses.

On Wednesday we first hiked through a very nice park near Camden, where we finished our walk and had some free time. Afterwards, we split up into groups, doing several activities: Visiting the Tower of London, strolling through West End, going on a ride on the London Eye, looking around the Wembley stadium or going to the Madame Tussauds museum. Then we had free time in West End, where we finally met at the Lyceum Theatre. There, we watched the musical "The Lion King" and went home late.

After a short night, we drove to Brighton on Thursday. We arrived and took a long hike along the cliffs of Brighton. Then, we visited the Royal Pavilion before having some free time in Brighton, which the most of us used to shop or spend time at the stony beach. This beautiful day finished with the usual bus ride to the car park.

Friday was our last day in England, so we got up early one last time and took our busses to the tube station "Elephant & Castle". After losing Mr Kästle for a short time and taking some photos in front of the Tower Bridge we split up into groups again and went to optional museums which were: The Imperial War Museum, The British Museum, the Tate Modern and the Museum of Science. After upgrading our education that way, we were again having free time to "say goodbye to London" and to shop. We met at the Tower, going to Greenwich again and, after a short walk, the bus picked us up for the final and long ride to Germany.

All in all, we can say that it was a great trip where we had loads of fun, made great memories together and also learned something about England and especially London. Thanks to the teachers who stood our annoyment and our sometimes inexhaustible energy :-)
